Covered scope

A limited marine write-back on the property 5400 model: the affirmative version, keeping a bounded cover for physical damage arising out of a non-malicious cyber event while excluding the malicious cyber act.

Excluded scope

Excludes the malicious cyber act and data-related costs, writing back a narrow band of physical damage.

Use cases

The affirmative counterpart of 5402, taken where a marine insurer will accept a bounded residual cyber exposure rather than a flat exclusion.

Limitations

As with any write-back endorsement, what comes back is narrow, and the line between a cyber act and a cyber incident can be argued.

Context

Issued November 2019 as the affirmative counterpart of 5402 across the marine classes, in the same spirit as the property pair 5400 / 5401.
