The mismatch disappoints the most conscientious collectors, and it is not ingratitude on the insurer's part: what it fears is the event reaching the whole room, and a climate cabinet changes almost nothing there. Grasping that stops you measuring the quality of prevention by what it saves on premium, and points toward the two levers in the next question. Believing the premium is computed on value alone misreads an underwriting that looks first at probable maximum loss.

The only two levers that move severity amount to having less value in one place, and they run into what made the collection: things are gathered to be seen, shown and kept together. That is why the conversation is hard while the arithmetic is simple. The other answers name useful measures acting on frequency or on proof, that is, exactly what the previous question just set aside as having little effect on premium.

Two words separate advice from a condition of cover, and agreement by return email is often enough to cross the line: you reply politely to an engineer and you amend your contract. The consequence only appears at the loss, when the insurer notes the accepted measure was never taken. The answer seeing nothing in it is the one you tell yourself while replying, and that is why reading a survey report is worth as much as reading an endorsement.

A condition record taken in unstable conditions does not compare with another, so a varying climate destroys the evidence at the same time as it tires the works: this line's hardest head to establish therefore depends on a piece of plant. That is the link to have in mind when weighing a conservation spend, because it adds a benefit the premium calculation does not show. The answer invoking the premium rejoins what the first question just set aside.

It arrives after placement, it looks like a technical report, and yet it carries the recommendations that can become conditions: it is that combination that makes it dangerous, not its content. The other answers name documents that are indeed rarely reread, but forgetting them costs an imprecision and not a cover. The useful step is a habit: reread the survey report the way you reread an endorsement, and answer its recommendations knowing what an acceptance carries.
